About the Workshop

Monday, June 8, 2009, 9am to 5pm.

Description

This basic course for painting plein air landscapes in oil. You will learn the plein air technique used by Robert Lewis. This one-day intensive will take you out of the house and into the world where you will learn simple concepts and techniques designed to maximize your painting success on location.

  • 9am*: Students will meet on location, set up their easels, and follow the instructor as he demonstrates, gives instruction in his technique, and gives personal instruction and encouragement. Morning hours will be devoted to basics and to the completion of one painting. There will be a break midway through the morning.
  • 12pm: Have your bag lunch ready as we rest a bit and refresh ourselves.
  • 1pm: After lunch, students will begin another painting and, with instruction as needed, finish this painting during the afternoon. There will be a break midway through the afternoon.
  • 4pm: After painting, students will view each other's work and discuss their experiences and insights.

Tuition

$101 per person, payable in advance, for the one day workshop; a total of at least 6 hours of instruction. Check or PayPal.

Student Requirements and Expectations

Each student should be able to fulfill the following requirements for this class:

  1. Be able to draw landscapes in pencil
  2. Some experience in oils recommended
  3. Have a portable easel and other materials. A list will be sent to you after sign-up.
  4. Provide your own transportation
  5. Be able to walk a distance carrying your own equipment.
  6. Be willing to accept instruction and constructive criticism from the instructor.
