Though the wind is still this day, this old veteran of a thousand storms braces itself and looks windswept. This old tree, painted from a plein air version of the scene, still lives along the Pacific Grove coast near Asilomar and the golf course. In the middle distance is Monterey Bay and in the far distance Fremont Peak.
